CECCEC

The Conference of European Churches (CEC) is an ecumenical fellowship of churches in Europe which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures and therefore seek to fulfil together their common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The highest governing body of CEC is the Assembly, held every 6-7 years and composed of delegates appointed by member churches as well as representatives of associated and partner organisations.

A 40 member Central Committee meets annually to oversee the implemetation of the decisions of the Assembly. A presidium of 10 members serves as executive to the Central Committee.

The structure of CEC consists of a General Secretariat and three Commissions: Churches in Dialogue, Church & Society, and the Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe. CEC presently has a staff of some 30 persons in three locations: Geneva, Brussels and Strasbourg.

The Churches in Dialogue Commission is based in Geneva. The main areas of work are: Orthodox/Protestant dialogue, mission and evangelism, theological education, ecumenical formation, and relations with other religious communities.

The Church & Society Commission has offices in Brussels and Strasbourg. This commission examines social, economic, ethical and environmental issues within the European Context.

The Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME), which is based in Brussels, works on migration and integration, refugees and asylum, and against racism and discrimination in Europe. CCME and CEC are formally cooperating in these areas since 1999 and are in the process of  the integration of CCME and CEC.
