The Refugee Crisis: Responses and Representation in the Media

The Conference of European Churches, the Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe, and the World Association for Christian Communication Europe invite all to an online video presentation and discussion about media responses to the ongoing refugee crisis. We will be joined by Birthe Pedersen, journalist with Kristeligt Dagblad, and Ralf Peter Reimann, web team leader for the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. CCME General Secretary Doris Peschke will also join the conversation and provide an overview of recent developments.

Birthe Pedersen is a Danish journalist and European correspondent for Kristeligt Dagblad, the Danish Christian daily newspaper. Based in France, Birthe covers French and international issues and has written extensively on the refugee crisis.  

Ralf Peter Reimann is the web team leader of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. He is a pastor and holds a masters degree in computer science. He was president of the European Christian Internet Conference and is now serving on steering committee of WACC Europe. His area of expertise is social media and online communities. In order to facilitate the acceptance of refugees in Germany, the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland launched the website fremdling.eu, linking the present day situation to the refugee crises after World War II.
