CEC Vice-President Rt Rev. Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani is appointed to be the next Bishop of Chelmsford. The announcement was made by Downing Street on 17 December.

Bishop Guli is currently Bishop of Loughborough in the Diocese of Leicester. She was elected as vice-president of CEC at the 2018 Novi Sad General Assembly, representing the Church of England.

Speaking about her appointment, CEC President Rev. Christian Krieger said, “We are deeply pleased to receive this news. It is in full recognition of Bishop Guli’s dedicated commitment to the service of the Church and her great qualities that we at CEC have been able to appreciate.”

“May God bless her in this new ministry, and may God bless those entrusted to her care,” he added.

In her new position Bishop Guli will be succeeding the Most Reverend Stephen Cottrell, who became Archbishop of York earlier this year.
