The Conference of European Churches has named Szabolcs Lörincz as Assembly Coordinator for its upcoming General Assembly, which will take place in Novi Sad (Serbia) from 30 May to 6 June, 2018.
Mr. Lörincz comes to the role with a weath of church, ecumenical, and corporate experience that will be of significant benefit to CEC as we look forward to our 15th General Assembly. He is an active member of the Reformed Church of Hungary and served his church as Head of Finances and Structures for more than a decade. Most recently he worked for the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Hungary as Director of Operations and Organizational Change.
Many in CEC networks will know Mr. Lörincz from his work with the ad-hoc Working Group on European Economic Governance and the Church Action on Labour and Life (CALL) Network in recent years. He also contributed to the European Churches Turn Toward the Future working group of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe.
“The Assembly Coordinator will play a crucial role in CEC staff for the next two years. All our projects and programmes will now be directed towards an effective and creative contribution to the Assembly,” said Fr Heikki Huttunen, CEC General Secretary, “We received applications from a number of excellent candidates for the post, and as CEC staff team we are now happy to welcome Szabolcs among us.”
Mr. Lörincz speaks Hungarian, English, French, German, and Russian and will join the CEC General Secretariat in Brussels in January.
