Governing board meets, continues to prepare for Novi Sad General Assembly

The Governing Board of the Conference of European Churches met from 12 to 14 March in Brussels, evaluating the work of CEC and making significant decisions related to its programmes.

The board members continued to prepare for the upcoming Novi Sad General Assembly of CEC to be held in Serbia, from 31 May to 6 June, addressing the theme “You shall be my witnesses”.

The CEC General Assembly will bring around 500 participants from across Europe, representing its diverse Member Churches, Organisations in Partnership and National Councils of Churches.

In the meeting the Governing Board was informed about all CEC's activities since their last meeting in November 2017. The members also discussed the thematic priorities of CEC’s for the next five-year period following the forthcoming General Assembly.

After several years of a difficulties CEC’s finances have now stabilised and in order to consolidate this development - and continue on the positive trajectory the Governing Board adopted a new plan for a fair and transparent method of calculating membership fees.

The Governing Board received the report of the Treasurer, took note of the final accounts for 2017 and recommended them to the General Assembly for adoption.

They also took note of an outline financial plan for the period 2019-2023.The members received a new scheme for the annual fees to be requested from CEC Member Churches and agreed to submit it to the General Assembly.
