    Mapping Migration: New publication from CCME and the World Council of Churches

    The Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) and the World Council of Churches (WCC) have published a revised and updated edition of their joint study, Mapping Migration: Mapping Churches’ Responses in Europe. The 2016 text explores challenges and changes in the European church landscape in light of international migration.

    Paris Climate Agreement: A signal of hope

    The historic United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) has concluded in Paris. For the first time, after a generation of negotiations, a global community of close to 200 nations has been able to speak with a common voice on climate change. Talks ran overtime and produced the Paris Agreement—a legally binding and ambitious global deal.

    International Human Rights Day: Religion, Security, and Human Rights 

    To mark International Human Rights Day on 10 December, the European Platform on Religious Intolerance and Discrimination (EPRID) and the office of Elmar Brok MEP hosted a panel discussion on religion, security, and human rights at the European Parliament. The Conference of European Churches is a member of EPRID and participated in organising this initiative.

    Churches on the Frontline of Integration

    Today the European Commission convened a Dialogue Seminar focussed on looking beyond the immediate humanitarian crisis provoked by the recent influx of migrants and refugees on European soil. COMECE, CEC, and CCME gathered experts and Church leaders from across Europe to discuss models of integration, best practices, and the fundamental values that guide integration within the European Union.

    Church and society secretaries meet in Strasbourg

    From 16 to 18 November secretaries responsible for European affairs met in Strasbourg (France) for an annual meeting. More than two-dozen participants from across Europe gathered to discuss church and society issues and learn more about the role of the Council of Europe in conflicts and reconciliation.
