Overnight a series of gun and bomb attacks left at least 120 dead in the French capital, and countless more injured. The Conference of European Churches grieves the loss of life and mourns with all those affected by this enormous tragedy.

On 10 November religious and political representatives gathered at the European Parliament to discuss religious freedom in the Republic of Cyprus. The well-attended seminar was held at the invitation of Dr Eleni Theocharous MEP in cooperation with the Representation of the Church of Cyprus to the European Institutions and the Conference of European Churches.

The CEC consultation on the Pilgrimage for climate justice which involved 50 church leaders and participants in pilgrimages for climate justice across the continent ended on 14 October 2015 at the Evangelical Academy Villigst in Schwerte (Germany).

The Conference of European Churches is pleased to announce the appointment of Fr Heikki Huttunen, Orthodox Church of Finland, to the position of General Secretary. Fr Huttunen comes to the role with a wealth of ecumenical experience and a lifelong commitment to youth in the Church, at one time serving Syndesmos, the international youth organisation of the Orthodox Church.

Refugee and Migrant Crisis: Ecumenical organisations appeal to ministers of EU Justice and Home Affairs Council
Five of Europe’s ecumenical organisations have called on the ministers of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council for a unified, ambitious and rights-based refugee and migration policy. The Conference of European Churches joins with the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME), Eurodiaconia, ACT Alliance EU, and EU-CORD in this appeal.
