    Spanish church leaders discuss project “Safer and Stronger Communities in Europe”

    In a meeting held in Madrid on 10 December, Human Rights Day, CEC Executive Secretary Dr Elizabeta Kitanovic met with leaders from CEC Member Churches in Spain to discuss the security situation in the country. She presented CEC’s SASCE project (Safer and Stronger Communities in Europe) funded by the European Union’s Internal Security Fund – Police.

Christian Krieger, president of the Conference of European Churches and H. Em. Card.     European churches bring into focus the Conference on the Future of Europe

    The event “Our hope for Europe” held in Brussels, brought into focus churches’ contribution to the ongoing Conference on the Future of Europe. It was organised by the Conference of European Churches (CEC), Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) and Chapel for Europe, with participation from representatives of the three main EU institutions.

    “The insights of the Synodal Encyclical have had a lasting impact on the ecumenical movement,” CEC President Rev. Christian Krieger said at the anniversary event “Synodal Encyclical of 1920: 100 Years of Exceptional Influence” celebrating one of the most significant ecumenical documents.

    CEC affirms churches’ contribution to the Conference on the Future of Europe

    Churches' aspiration to actively engage with the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) was affirmed in a contribution by CEC’s Senior EU Policy Advisor Lena Kumlin. She was participating among other European faith representatives at the Article 17 Dialogue Seminar on CoFoE, hosted by Vice-President Roberta Metsola.
