Churches are invited to commemorate refugees who died at the European borders
In anticipation of the World Refugee Day on 20 June 2022, CEC together with the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe is inviting churches to commemorate the lives of thousands of migrants and refugees, who lost their lives in the Mediterranean, seeking safety on their way to Europe.

Rev. Christian Krieger, president of the Conference of European Churches, visited western Ukraine in April, where he met with Bishop Pavlo Shvarts of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ukraine as well as other Ukrainian church leaders responding to humanitarian and spiritual needs.

European church leaders send letter to Putin and Zelenskyy calling for an Easter ceasefire in Ukraine
CEC and COMECE Presidents Rev. Christian Krieger and H.Em. Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich SJ, sent a letter addressed to the presidents of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, 11 April, calling for an Easter ceasefire in Ukraine from midnight on 17 April until midnight on 24 April.
