20 January, 2023

Every Part of Creation Matters, a book published by CEC together with Globethics.net was launched in an online event. Presentations from the event are now available. Caring for God’s creation and churches’ calling is the main theme of the book.

The CEC Governing Board member and Bishop of Leeds Rt Rev. Nicholas Baines and Matthias K. Boehning from the World Evangelical Alliance, Permanent Representative to the UN in Bonn and director of the WEA Sustainability Center, spoke about the theme at the launch, held on 18 January. The session was moderated by CEC Study Secretary Rev. Dr Peter Pavlovic.

The publication summarises the work of the CEC Thematic Group on Economic and Ecological Justice and Sustainable Future. The group consists of theologians, experts in ecological and political science, as well as activists from churches across the continent.

The book offers a summary of discussions among theologians from diverse churches. The first section underlies key aspects of several theological traditions. The second section features insights into the European Green Deal aiming to transform the EU into a modern, resource-efficient, and competitive economy with no net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The text supports the main aim of the Green Deal, and raises concerns related to some of its principal parts.

Digital copies of Every Part of Creation Matters can be downloaded here. Print copies will soon be available from Amazon.com.
