Prayers and condolences over Albania earthquake

In the wake of the deadly earthquake that hit Albania on 26 November, the president of the Conference of European Churches (CEC) Rev. Christian Krieger has conveyed condolences and prayers for those who lost their lives, their bereaved families, and the injured.

“It is with deep sadness that we have received news about the earthquake in Albania. We are thinking of our Member Church the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania,” said Rev. Krieger. “On behalf of CEC, I offer my sincere condolences and prayers to all the people and communities, who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident,” he added.

According to media reports, 6.4 magnitude earthquake has hit Albania, bringing down buildings and leaving people trapped under rubble. At least 20 people have died. The earthquake hit the north-west of the capital, Tirana, in the early hours of Tuesday.
