CEC welcomes visitors from Denmark and Finland

A group of Danish bishops and members of the Council of International Relations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark visited CEC office in Brussels.

The delegates were bishops of Denmark including the bishop of Faroe Islands (an autonomous province of Denmark but not part of EU).

CEC General Secretary Fr Heikki Huttunen welcomed the delegation on 19 November.

The first part of the meeting was convened at the office of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union, continuing discussions later at the CEC office.

The delegates learnt about the work of CEC, its partners and relations with the European Union. CEC Dialogue Secretary Katerina Pekridou and CEC Communication Coordinator Dr Erin Green participated in discussions in the meeting.

The delegation was led by Mogens Stensbæk Mogensen, chairman of the Interchurch Council and included Rev. Niels Iver Juul, Bishop Marianne Christiansen, Birger Nygaard, Bishop Marianne Gaarden, Bishop Henrik Wigh-Poulsen, Anne Birgitte Reiter, Bishop Peter Henrik Skov-Jakobsen, Mads Lønberg Christoffersen, Bishop Jogvan Fridriksson, Rev. Dr Niels Nymann Eriksen, Hanne Møller Vammen Wolfsberg, Bishop Henning Toft Bro, Bishop Henrik Stubkjær, Rev. Ole Buchardt Olesen, Bishop Peter Fischer-Møller, Anders Borre Gadegaard, Hanna Dorete AgneteBroadbridge, Rev. Ingrid Lisby Schmidt, Mogens Bruno Kjær, Rev. Christian Roar Pedersen and Bishop Tine Lindhardt.

On 20 November, CEC received two visitors from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, including Bishop Björn Vikström of the diocese of Borgå and Rev. Lena Kumlin, legal adviser on EU affairs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.

Bishop Björn also engaged in dialogue with the Swedish MEP Cecilia Wikström in an event at the Chapel of Europe. Cecilia Wikström is a Swedish politician and Member of the European Parliament from Sweden. She has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2009. She is also a member of the Liberal People's Party, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
