The European Christian Environmental Network promotes cooperation in caring for creation. The aim of the network is to share information and experiences with environmental work among the Christian traditions of Europe. It also seeks a united witness in caring for God’s creation.

The second full day of the 11th Assembly of the European Christian Environmental Network brought together church leaders and researchers to discuss water in a sustainable future. A number of detailed presentations highlighted various aspects of the role of water in the overall future of the Earth and ongoing climate crises.

On 27 January members of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN) enabling team met with members of the European Parliament Carbon Divestment Group. The two groups came together for a discussion on the use of fossil fuels as a major contributor to climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.

European Christian Environmental Network facilitates cooperation on eco-management and dialogue on nuclear energy
In back-to-back gatherings, the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN) attempted to bring together diverse Christian perspectives on critical environmental issues. On 16 and 17 April, ECEN members focussed on coordinating efforts for practical climate justice work at the grassroots level. A second ECEN event took place on 17 and 18 April, in Heidelberg. Theologians and church experts gathered for an ecumenical consultation under the banner “Is the use of nuclear energy ethically justifiable?”

The 10th Assembly of European Christian Environmental Network concluded in Balatonszarszo (Hungary) on 30 September, 2014.More than 100 delegates and guests from 24 countries, engaged in works on care for creation, attended the Assembly under the theme of 'Energy and Climate Change - the Churches' Role and Voice' offered a place for discussion, worships and sharing of the churches’ concerns related to climate change and energy use.

The 10th Assembly of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN) under the theme ‘Energy and Climate Change – the Churches’ Role and Voice’ will take place from 27 September – 1 October 2014 in Balatonszárszó (Hungary). The aim of the meeting is to offer a space for a discussion on recent developments in climate change, energy and ethics, and to strengthen Churches’ engagement and cooperation in responding to these concerns.
